Youth Programs/Faith Formation
Our Youth Sunday School program is at 10:00am every Sunday morning.
New Church Nursery
As of this writing, we are in the process of moving the church nursery from its location on the ground floor to an upstairs room. This new location is better suited to the needs of our youngest children and their caregivers, and the move is part of our plan to again have child care available for infants and toddlers every Sunday. Come and see the results of our efforts, which should be completed soon.
Sunday School Starting in Fall
We plan to resume the Sunday School program on September 20. We'll be sending out a mailing later in the month, and posting information on this web page, with more information about our fall programming. Watch for further details, or call Mary Ann Fontaine (860-963-1121) or Marjorie Woodward (860-935-5413) for more information.
"Walking With God" - our summer program
If you happened to be driving past the common on the early evening of July 10th, you may have noticed the church's canvas labyrinth spread out on the grass. "Walking With God" was the name of the summer program enjoyed by a group of adults and children for five evenings from July 9th - 13th.
During that week we looked at some examples of how the theme of journey is related to the story of our faith and to our response to that story. Walking the labyrinth was one of the experiences we shared. We also reenacted the hourney of the people of Israel into the promised land and the erecting of a pile of stones as memorial to that crossing of the Jordan. We created two skits about following Jesus, shared an evening of singing around the campfire, and explored the journey through the church year as a way of telling the story of our faith.
Whenever all of this journeying tired us out, we had a "resting place" (the church parlor, transformed into a garden with the addition of plants and a small fountain) in which to relax and be restored. We also realized as we shared this time together how important it is to have companions on our journeys - and how offering that companionship to each other is one expression of being a church and of walking with God, our ever-present companion on all of our journeys.
